Match Preview | St Helens

The recently crowned World Champions come to the John Smith's Stadium on Thursday, let's see how they've been performing!
Giants Squad News
With Ian Watson's men losing out by two points to Wigan Warriors last Friday, we will be looking to right the wrongs as we welcome current Super League & World Club Champions St Helens to the John Smith's Stadium on Friday evening.
Josh Jones, after failing his HIA Assessment in the second half, is ruled out of this game and an enforced change Watto will have to deal with.
The Giants could look to refresh their squad after a close defeat, with Jake Connor edging ever closer to a return, and winger Innes Senior and Sam Halsall impressing in the Reserves competition.
The Opposition Team
St Helens, after a superb start to the season when they defeated current NRL back-to-back Champions Penrith Panthers to win the World Club Challenge, have had a stuttering start to the season, after defeats to Leeds and Leigh Leopards.
They claimed a victory last time out, however, as they defeated Hull FC in what was a closely fought contest with Paul Wellens' men coming out on top 22-12, winger Jon Bennison scoring a double, Jack Weslby and Ben Davies also crossing the line.
The Saints are currently level on points with the Giants, after two wins and two losses after four rounds, with Round 1 being postponed to be played at a later date due to the visitors involvement in the World Club Challenge.
Key Men
Saints boast one of the most respectable and dominant sides in Super League history, after winning four Grand Final titles in a row.
Jack Weslby, arguably one of the hottest talents in the game of Rugby League right now, was on the scoresheet vs Hull FC and will be looking to continue his form vs the Giants on Thursday evening.
In the halves for Saints, plays Jonny Lomax and Lewis Dodd, with the experience of Lomax and the youthfulness of Dodd, can win a game for the red V in any situation.
Last Season
In 2022 we lost out 12-24 to St Helens at home, in what was a closely fought contest with full-back Tui Lolohea scoring a superb length of the field try.
We will be looking to bounce back with a win vs the Saints on Thursday, with Adults going for £21, get your tickets now and secure your seat.
